Letter 9 March 2014

Dear Jack and Floyd,

It was lovely when you asked me to do the dance video like you two.  I felt so silly doing it though as I didn't know the dance moves.  I loved watching you two as you looked like you were having a great time.  I am so looking forward to dancing with you.

Do you remember when we lived together we used to dance in the kitchen and the lounge and sometimes I would pick you up and dance with you.  You would both giggle and then argue over who was next and how long you were going to get.  We had a lot of fun.

I went for a mountain bike ride on Saturday and I went up a very steep hill.  It was tough and hot and I was on my own.  A couple of times I wanted to stop and go back down as I was too tired and thought I couldn't do it.  Then I sat down and I wondered what you two would say to me.  I thought you would say "well mum you tell us we can do anything we put our minds too so come on and get going".  I kept going and I got right up to the sign.  I forgot to take pictures but I was thinking of you as I was peddling.  What do you do when you want to give up?  What helps you keep going when something is tricky?  Jack you were so good at teaching yourself to click your fingers and learn new skills.  Floyd you stay so calm even then it is tough.  What have you found tricky lately and what helped.

Have you been a giraffe or a jackal lately?  I noticed a kid was calling someone else a bully and when I asked him if he liked being called names he said no it didn't feel good.  When I pointed out he was calling someone else names he said sorry because he realised it didn't feel good.  We can all be giraffes and jackals without meaning to be.  It's nice though when we can choose to be kind with our words and thoughts.  Floyd honey I remember you telling me how you built a castle for the other kids because they didn't know how.  What a lovely giraffe choice.  And Jack remember when you kept the wee girl company in the goal because you knew it could be lonely.  Another giraffe choice.

I was thinking about getting a giraffe and jackal puppet to help with teaching kids and adults about kind words and thoughts - what do you reckon?  Jack would Pinky be a giraffe or a jackal?

My friend was feeling sad so I went a sat with her for a while and listened.  Then she felt much better.  Do your friends help you to feel better?

I am so happy it is only 19 days until I pick you up.  Being with you will be my favourite part of the year.

Jack I loved how you have decided not to take Lamby based on our last experience.  I am sure Champ will love the chance to come to NZ.  Floyd I am sure Koko will love it too.  We can have a magical adventure together.

Jack how did the girl get on in your football team.  Is she fitting in better.  Is there anything you can do to help her.  Floyd how is your backstroke going.  I am so looking forward to seeing you swimming again.

I love you more than pork chops.

Thinking of you Mummy
xxxx
